Meet AIDA's Family

Aida Ladera (or Ms. Aida as she's often called) works in the Utilities department, first joining Napili Surf 8 years ago. Although her shyness and limited English may initially make her come across as reserved, everyone that takes a moment with her quickly learns how amazing she is. Despite the level of physical effort required for her job or the fact that she has a damaged knee that makes many tasks more challenging, Aida consistently shares her gentle smile while taking pride in her work and the joy it brings to others.  

Guests at Napili Surf over the years have often commented that the barbecue grills always look brand new even though they get lots of use.  This is because of Aida and is one of many examples of her dedication and work ethic. Not only is she willing to do the tasks that others might forget, but her commitment to serving others and to gratefully approaching her work drives her to do it so well that even the grills look brand new.

Up until the fires, Aida lived in Lahainaluna along with her husband and their daughter's family for four. Their close-knit family are all dedicated to provide and care for one another and  are so appreciative for the home that they have worked so hard for.  But Aida and her family lost their home when the fires demolished so much of Lahaina, and now the home they were so proud to share, as well as everything that was inside, is all gone. 

Her husband works in hospitality for another nearby resort, where at least for now, Aida and her family all stay together. But no matter how much Aida and her family have lost or how terrifying the path ahead of them is without a home or the resources to recover from this catastrophic loss, Aida remains a quiet but ever constant example of humility and gratitude  She often inspires those around her that no matter the circumstances of life, we should all be so humble and thankful.
